We are big believers in leaving the sweet potato skin on for both kids and adults. The skin contains beneficial nutrients and fiber, so let’s do everything we can to encourage kids to eat the peel!

How to serve kids sweet potatoes? We have found that the technique shown in this video is one of the best ways to serve kids sweet potatoes. Sweet potato rounds or quarters are an easy finger food for toddlers, pose little choking hazard, and are loaded with great flavor and nutrition.

Step-by-Step Instructions for Serving Sweet Potatoes with Skins

Start by making easy roasted sweet potatoes; cook whole sweet potatoes in a 400ºF oven for 40-60 minutes, or until easily pierced with a fork (larger sweet potatoes take longer to cook).

Allow sweet potatoes to cool.

Using a serrated knife, slice into rounds.

Sprinkle with cinnamon, pumpkin spice, or other sweet spices and serve. Adding sweet spices helps to make sweet potatoes taste even sweeter for kids.
