Culinary Tips for the Best Parmesan Roasted Asparagus
Combining the oil, salt, and dried herbs together first ensures even flavor distribution.
Do not overcrowd the pan. Overcrowding causes steaming which will lead to mushy asparagus!
Asparagus stems vary greatly in size. Thicker pieces will take longer to cook, so keep your eye on them!
If the stems are super thin, broil them instead of roasting. They will cook super fast and that is the only way to get browned ends without overcooking.
Add Parmesan during the last minute of cooking so that it melts but doesn’t burn.
Squeeze fresh lemon juice on roasted asparagus after cooking for a pop of bright flavor.

FAQ Questions:
Should I use fresh grated Parmesan or pre-shredded Parmesan?
Freshly grated Parmesan is the best choice because it melts more evenly and provides a richer, nuttier flavor. Pre-shredded Parmesan can work in a pinch but may not melt as smoothly.
How long does Parmesan roasted asparagus last?
Store leftover Parmesan roasted asparagus in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat it in the oven or air fryer for the best texture.
Can I make Parmesan roasted asparagus in the air fryer?
Yes. Cook the asparagus in an air fryer at around 400°F (200°C) for 6–8 minutes, then sprinkle with Parmesan during the last minute or two of cooking until melted and lightly golden.
What main dishes pair well with Parmesan roasted asparagus?
Parmesan roasted asparagus pairs well with grilled chicken, baked salmon, steak, roasted pork, pasta dishes, risotto, or vegetarian grain bowls. Its savory flavor complements a wide variety of meals.
