FAQ Questions:
Why are my kale chips soggy instead of crispy?
Soggy kale chips are usually caused by excess moisture or overcrowding the baking sheet. Dry the kale thoroughly after washing and spread the leaves in a single layer so they roast instead of steam.
Can I use different types of kale for this recipe?
Yes! Curly kale, purple kale, and lacinato (dinosaur) kale all work well. Each variety has a slightly different texture, but they all become deliciously crispy when baked properly.
Can I use garlic powder instead of granulated garlic?
Absolutely. Garlic powder is a great substitute if you don’t have granulated garlic. Use a slightly smaller amount since garlic powder has a finer texture and stronger flavor.
Are garlic kale chips healthy?
Yes. Garlic kale chips are a nutritious snack made with kale, heart-healthy oil, garlic, and a small amount of salt. They’re rich in vitamins and minerals while offering a crunchy alternative to traditional potato chips.
