This is one of our base recipes. You’ve probably heard of omega-3s and that salmon is a great source, but did you know that canned tuna is also a good (and more affordable) source? Give this simple tuna salad base recipe a try, and as always, adjust to YOUR taste!

Ingredients
Base Recipe
¼cupplain Greek yogurt
¼cupmayonnaise(olive or canola oil based)
1-2Tablespoonschopped fresh herbs
1Tablespoonfinely minced onion
2teaspoonslemon juice
1small clove garlic, minced(~½ teaspoon)
10-12ounceslow-sodium tuna in water, drained
Salt & pepper to taste
Mix-ins to YOUR taste
1Tablespoonminced chipotles in adobo(with sauce)
1Tablespoonhot sauce or
1-2teaspoonsmustard(Dijon, stoneground, etc.)
1-2Tablespoonschopped pickles or pickle relish
¼cupdiced vegetables
2Tablespoonssliced olives
1-2hardboiled eggs, diced
Instructions
Combine Greek yogurt, mayonnaise, herbs, onion, lemon juice, garlic, and optional chipotles in adobo, hot sauce, Dijon mustard, pickles, or pickle relish in a medium-sized bowl.
Add drained tuna and any other optional mix-ins. Using a spatula, fold to combine.
Substitute up to ½ of the mayonnaise with more Greek yogurt. Keep in mind that the fat in the mayonnaise helps improve the texture of the sauce.If you add a lot of mix-ins and find the salad too dry, add a little more Greek yogurt to taste.Check out this recipe for flavor inspiration!Tuna Chickpea Salad
