Homemade granola is super easy. Once you make it, you will never buy store bought again! Oats, nuts, oil, a little sweetener, & dried fruit is all it takes!

Course: Breakfast, Snack
Cuisine: American
Yield: 6 cups
  • 2 Tablespoons - ¼ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup canola oil
  • ¼ cup natural liquid sweetener (honey, agave, or maple syrup)
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 3 cups old fashioned oats
  • 2-3 cups raw nuts (sliced, chopped, or halved)
  • 1 cup dried fruit
  1. Preheat oven to 250° F.

  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, oil, liquid sweetener, and salt.

  3. Add the oats and nuts to the bowl. Using a spatula, stir until well-combined.

  4. Spread granola in an even layer on one or two baking sheets (depending on the size). Cook for 1 hour. Stir every 15 minutes to achieve an even color.*

  5. Remove from oven and stir one more time. Add dried fruit. Once cool, store in an airtight container. Enjoy!

Recipe Notes

*The granola will still turn out delicious if you don’t stir it every 15 minutes. It just won’t brown as evenly.

Cook the granola until golden, but don’t expect it to be hard when you remove it from the oven. It will harden as it cools. The almond butter in this recipe will turn the granola golden more quickly, so be sure to check it after 45 minutes of baking.
